Recollections: My first flight in the Bell 407 was for a recurrent class for Night Vision Devices (NVIS), aka NVG’s.  My self and an FAA FTE did ground school for the helo and a refresher for the NVIS, and then a single night flight.  The 407’s cockpit has a similar feel to the Bell 206, which I’d flown more, but felt more powerful and responsive (owing, no doubt, to the 4 bladed rotor which is “soft in plane” or semi-rigid…very different than the teetering 2 blade rotor on the similar-looking Bell 206).  The NVIS training was excellent.

I flew one more time at Bell Training Academy, for a demo of the Single Pilot IFR version of the Bell 407.
